Dr. Samura Wilson Kamara, the 2018 flagbearer for Sierra Leone’s All People’s Congress (APC), took to social media on Sunday to urge his party members to draw inspiration from the recently concluded Democratic Party Convention in the United States.

In a message posted on his X page, Kamara praised the U.S. Democrats for their exemplary display of unity and comradeship, highlighting how even a relatively unknown party member could rise to national prominence through collective support.

Kamara emphasized the importance of internal solidarity within the APC, drawing parallels between the Democrats’ convention and the APC’s own need for a united front. He called on party supporters to strengthen their collective pride and determination, reiterating that such unity could restore hope and elevate the party’s profile for the benefit of the nation.

“As APCians, we should rally among ourselves to achieve and preserve the overarching AIM of a political party which our founding fathers had prescribed,” Kamara stated, urging members to reflect on the principles of true comradeship.

His remarks come at a crucial time for the APC as it seeks to regroup and strategize ahead of future elections. Kamara’s call for unity is seen as a significant move to inspire cohesion within the party, which has faced internal challenges in recent years.

Kamara’s message concluded with a reminder to party members to revisit the values that once made the APC a formidable force in Sierra Leonean politics.
