The Tonkolili District Executive of the All People’s Congress has on Saturday August 24th 2024 officially launched the party forthcoming membership registration and verification process at their Office along Bo Road in Magburaka town, Northern Sierra Leone.
The event attracted party stakeholders and members from the District, Members of Parliament, Ward and Constituency Executives. According to the District Chairman – Dr Sam Bangura, the purpose of launching the registration process is to ensure the leadership of the party continues educating the general membership especially the grassroots the benefits of taking part in the forthcoming registration and verification process and to also address the too many misconceptions and lies peddled on social media.
The registration process, Dr Bangura said will go ahead as planned by the party leadership and he urges everyone who believes in the ideology of the APC to take part.
A party member, Dr Bangura said can only vote in or out an Executive member if he/she is registered. The leadership of the APC, he said won’t reverse its decision as far as the registration process is concerned.
“So, I called on every one of us to cooperate with the party leadership to ensure we all have a successful registration and verification process,” the APC Chairman said.
The registration, he furthered is lawful and boycotting it, he said would be detrimental to the individuals and the party. Very soon, Dr Bangura said the process will start and he assured those present that he will ensure everyone benefits devoid of party camps. He used the occasion to educate the membership about the dangers of the too many fake news on social media.
“If you’re a true son and daughter of the APC, remember the party has structures and one of them is registration. If you want to know about the party, listen to what the leadership is telling you, forget about news mongers on social media,” Dr Sam Bangura warned.
Most of the information on social media, he said is misleading and will further divide the party.
During the ceremony, several stakeholders from Tonkolili District also made meaningful statements and all are centered around the call for a total compliance. All of the Ward and Constituency Executive members present have also assured the party leadership of their support to ensure the registration process goes successfully.
