Recalling the unfortunate incident that purported to the death of many civilian protesters and police officers on August 10th 2022, the State will today bury 25 civilians killed during the protest.

According to news reaching us, the victim families have been rejected from taken the bodies of their loved ones from the Mortuary for burial. As a result, the State has decided to lay them to rest.

In the bid to console the families of the said victims, the State has apportioned a sum of Le 20 million Leones, which is roughly about $1,250 dollar. Among the corpse are the victims killed during the August 10 protest and Evangelist Samson who was allegedly shot on a cross fire with the police while executing their duties on a raid.

It has been heard that the family of Late Hassan Dumbuya popularly known as Evangelist Samson has rejected the Le20 million offer from the State. This could be because they are still in doubt to the alleged story of their son’s death.

The cemetery to lay the victims has not been disclosed to families but we’re told to converge at the central mortuary this afternoon at 1pm in Freetown. Sierra Leoneans hearing this news are reacting in different ways and asking questions why families are rejected with their loved ones bodies.

It comes nearly eight weeks since six policemen killed in the same protests were laid to rest at a ceremony presided over by president Julius Maada Bio whose families received Le 100 million each.
