The Sierra Leone Bar Association (SLBA) has announced the postponement of its Annual General Meeting (AGM), which had been scheduled to take place on June 5 and 6, citing logistical and other challenges beyond the control of the Association’s directors.

The announcement was made in a General Notice dated June 1, 2026, and issued by the General Secretary of the SLBA, Alfred Paul Juwah Esq.

According to the notice, the decision was taken pursuant to Section 185(1) of the Companies Act No. 5 of 2009 (as amended), Articles 11 and 30(a) of the Memorandum and Articles of Association of the Sierra Leone Bar Association, and a resolution of members adopted on February 10 and 11, 2022.

The notice informed members of the Association that the AGM slated for June 5 and 6 has been postponed and that a new date will be communicated in due course.

“The membership of the SLBA is hereby informed that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) slated for the 5th and 6th instant is hereby postponed to a further date to be communicated shortly,” the notice stated.

The Association attributed the postponement to logistical and other operational difficulties that it said were outside the control of its directors. Despite the setback, the directors expressed regret over any inconvenience the decision may cause members.

“The postponement of the said AGM has been occasioned due to logistical and other challenges beyond the control of the Directors,” the notice explained, adding that the directors “apologise for any inconvenience this postponement may have caused.”

The notice further disclosed that the postponement period will be used by the Association’s Treasurer to verify membership payments and reconcile records with the bank. The process, according to the SLBA, is intended to facilitate the final determination of eligibility for members who are fully paid up.

“Further take notice that the Treasurer of the SLBA will use this period to verify payments and reconcile with the bank for final determination of eligibility in respect of fully paid-up members,” the notice stated.

The Sierra Leone Bar Association thanked its members for their understanding and assured them that further communication regarding the rescheduled AGM will be issued in due course.
