Following the overnight devastating tragedy of the fuel tanker explosion in Wellington, PMB, His Excellency Julius Maada Bio has cancelled his ECOWAS trip to attend the Extraordinary Session of the Authority of Heads of State and Government scheduled for Sunday 6th November 2021 in Accra, Ghana.

Expressing his condolences following the tragedy, H.E Julius Maada Bio stated: “Deeply disturbed by the tragic fires and the horrendous loss of life around the Wellington PMB area. My profound sympathies with families who have lost loved ones and those who have been maimed as a result. My Government will do everything to support affected families.”

It could be recalled that H.E Julius Maada Bio was initially scheduled to return to Sierra Leone on Sunday 7th November 2021 after the United Nations Climate Change Conference of Parties (COP26) in Glasgow and the Extraordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government in Accra.
