Sierra Leone’s President Julius Maada Bio is poised to incorporate China’s visionary approach to expedite development in the country.
Speaking on China Central News Television (CCTV), a 24-hour news channel of China News Television and the largest news channel in mainland China, President Bio expressed his admiration for the orderliness, discipline, and structured movement of the people and the country. He emphasized that these qualities contribute to a nation’s progressive development, citing China’s remarkable fast-paced growth over several years as an example.
“I see discipline and I see that with discipline a lot can be achieved because in orderliness, respect for time and these I think are the hallmarks of a society that wants to make progress” he stated.
He said, as a leader you have to think of the people’s welfare and progress before proposing a lip to total and sustainable development. “We have to be able to convince our people to follow us and that I think has happened here” he pointed out.
He said, China was able to register a stable development over the years because the people have all decided to work in enhancing sustainable development and mapping out strategies that will be good for the general populace, adding that, development is just about the leader who proposed it but it is also hinged on the people for whom such plans have been nurtured.
He said, he is trying to work very closely behind China as a means of understudying the strategies and how they worked and moved to effect the fast development and progress.
He said, China’s President Xi Jinping is a very focused person who knows what he wants for his people and he is not distracted by anyone as he remained focused to the development of his people at all times.
“He is a leader worthy of emulation,” he stated.
Speaking on China-Africa relations he said, it is under scrutiny and that many organizations, countries and people are trying to look at it as predatory.
Limiting his discussion to his country Sierra Leone, he stated that, Sierra Leone has gone willingly into a relationship with china.
“ I would speak on behalf of my own country and say that, we are not fools, we have gone willingly into a relationship that we think is a win-win. We have relationships with other institutions around the world that has been going on for century and we have not benefitted. If we find a new friend and are trying to work together, of course it will attract a lot of attention, but we just want to be sure that whatever we do is for the development of our people.” He pointed out.
He said that, they have to have ways to have services and other goods exchanged in a well opened mood for it to be an exchange relationship rather than a begging relationship.
