President Julius Maada Bio indirectly mocked the Prince of Wales and the Sierra Leone Grammar Schools over the style of celebrations during the Bo School celebrations this weekend in Bo.
“There was a celebration of old boys in Freetown, some came with Omolankay (carts) others came with Kekehs (tricycles) and some with vehicles that overheated and almost caught fire,” Bio joked during his address at the ceremony.
The statement got the crowd in a rowdy mood.
President Bio made this joking statement while speaking at the Bo School Thanksgiving and Speech Day ceremony on Friday, April 17, 2025.
He further stated that a particular school promised to bring a lion but they never saw the lion on the day of their celebration but they saw fire. This statement was widely conceived to be directed at the Prince of Wales school which promised to parade a lion during their Thanksgiving Day celebrations in Freetown.
Bio added that for them, Boy School boys are not using Kekehs or wranglers but will rather walk all through the matching process while giving a piece of gentle advice to those who think they are not strong enough to walk.
