His Excellency President Dr. Julius Maada  Bio has secured €245 million support from European Union Commission  in Brussels.

The President tweeted, “Today I met with EU Commissioner, Jutta Urpiliainen. I’m pleased to confirm the announcement of EU support of €245million for 4years in; 1. Green Economy; 2. Human Capital Development; 3. Democratic Governance. Thank to @EU-Commision for your support to Sierra Leone”

The Support came as a result of  President  Bio recent departure to the Belgian capital, Brussels to join other European Union and African Union (AU) leaders for the Sixth European Union/African Union Summit scheduled for 17 and 18 February 2022.

The Summit presents a unique opportunity to lay the foundations for a renewed and deeper AU-EU Partnership with the highest political involvement and based on trust and a clear understanding of mutual interests.

Leaders are expected to discuss how both continents can build greater prosperity. The aim is to launch an ambitious Africa-Europe Investment Package, taking into account global challenges such as climate change and the current health crisis. They would also be talking about tools and solutions to promote stability and security through a renewed peace and security architecture. A series of thematic roundtables will also be organised.
