The Ministry of Communication, Technology, and Innovation has announced the successful acquisition of a $1.4 million grant from the African Development Bank (AfDB) to advance Sierra Leone’s tech ecosystem.

The funding will primarily support the development of Felei TechCity’s investment portfolio, the creation of a Startup Innovation Fund, and the recruitment of a technical team of experts to assist Felei TechCity’s CEO, Mr. David Manly.

The Ministry is optimistic that this strategic funding will accelerate innovation, foster startup growth, and strengthen the technology landscape in the country.

The investment in Felei TechCity is expected to play a vital role in transforming Sierra Leone into a tech hub, driving digital transformation, and promoting entrepreneurship in the region.

By establishing a dedicated Startup Innovation Fund, the government aims to provide critical financial and structural support to emerging entrepreneurs, enabling them to scale their businesses and create job opportunities.

The recruitment of a specialized technical team will further enhance the city’s capacity to deliver on its ambitious goals.

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader vision to build a robust and sustainable tech ecosystem, positioning Sierra Leone as a leader in technological innovation across West Africa.
