In a riveting turn of events at the ongoing Court Martial trial, Lance Corporal David Saidu, an investigator with the Joint Purpose Unit, Cockeril, took the stand, revealing startling details about the discovery of black rounds of ammunition at the residence of the fourth accused, Abu Dauda.

Saidu, who is a key witness in the case, identified the fourth, fifth, and twelfth accused individuals as he recounted the events that transpired on November 25th and 26th, 2023. Tasked with conducting an investigation following these incidents, Saidu provided insight into the process of obtaining statements from the accused.

On December 4th, 2023, Lance Corporal Saidu, alongside Detective Mohamed Kargbo of CID and others, conducted an interview with the fourth accused. During the interview, the accused was cautioned and questioned, with the assurance of legal representation if needed.

The investigation at the premises of the fourth accused uncovered not only black rounds of ammunition but also liquid substances. Saidu clarified that these ammunition rounds are typically used for training purposes and are conventionally stored within the army. Interestingly, the accused did not contest possession of these items during the inquiry.

In a twist, the accused explained the delay in returning the ammunition, attributing it to the incidents on November 25th and 26th. Statements from the fourth accused, along with others interviewed, were read aloud in court, shedding light on the unfolding events.

Legal representation for the fourth accused was provided by Lawyer Tejan, while the state’s counsel, Alieu Vandy Koroma, presented the prosecution’s case. The courtroom remains abuzz with anticipation as the trial continues to unravel the mysteries surrounding the discovered ammunition cache.
