The Management of Ernest Bai Koroma (EBK) University of Science and Technology has publicly responded to allegations of bribery and extortion circulating on social media and online platforms, insisting that the institution maintains a strict zero-tolerance stance against corruption and unethical conduct.

In an official statement released by the University, management said it had “taken note of recent publications circulating on social media and online platforms alleging acts of bribery and extortion involving certain administrative and academic processes within the University.”

The University stated that, as a reputable academic institution committed to “integrity, transparency, accountability, and academic excellence,” it treats all allegations of misconduct with seriousness.

Management further reassured students, parents, staff, stakeholders, and the general public that EBKUST does not condone corruption, bribery, extortion, or any form of unethical behavior within the institution.

The response follows publications reportedly linked to Corruption Watch SL, which raised concerns over alleged corrupt practices involving some University processes and officials.

In its statement, EBKUST strongly objected to remarks made in the concluding section of the publication, saying the assertions directly implicated the institution “without due process or verified evidence.”

According to management, such claims risk damaging the University’s reputation and undermining public confidence before any formal investigation has been concluded.

The University said it remains open to lawful and independent investigations by relevant authorities, including the Anti-Corruption Commission, should the need arise.

Management added that the institution is fully prepared to cooperate with any official inquiry aimed at establishing facts “fairly, transparently, and objectively.”

EBKUST also called on the media, online commentators, and members of the public to exercise professionalism and restraint in discussing the allegations. The University emphasized that due process, fairness, and evidence-based reporting are necessary to protect both institutional credibility and individual reputations.

As part of its response to the concerns raised, the institution disclosed that it has initiated internal administrative reviews into the matters highlighted in the publication.

Management further encouraged students and staff members with credible information or complaints to make use of the University’s established reporting mechanisms.

The statement concluded by reaffirming the University’s commitment to providing quality higher education in an environment built on professionalism, accountability, ethical leadership, and service to national development.
