Executive Director for the Native Consortium and Research Center, Edmond Abu Jr has been honored as the Civil Right Activist of the year 2022 by the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation at its 5th Service Delivery Awards event.

Edmond Abu Jr was awarded for his brave work as a civil rights leader, continuing the ongoing fight for equality.

The 5th Edition of the Bai Bureh Service Delivery Awards was organized the 10th December, 2022 at the Port Loko District Council Conference Hall in honor of individuals and Service Providers for what they have contributed to humanity & societal development.

Upon receiving his awards as Civil Right Activist of the year, he gave a touching statement of appreciation and dedication:

“I thank you all. It is an honor to be here today receiving such an award. I have been in prison for 25 years and has been at Pademba Road 3 times for my work and service to fight for equality. Despite all that, today I feel touched receiving awards from the Bai Bureh Heritage Foundation. This means so much to me than you know. I pray that the Bai Bureh Foundation be sustained and we are ready to give support. I dedicate this award to my spiritual father Bishop J Archibald Cole, Mr Arthur Doherty of Bun Tejan Doherty & Co chartered Accountants and My mother.”

Jr Abu is the Executive Director of the Native Consortium and Research Centre, a group that advocates for economic reforms and equality.

He is a fighter and one of the many activists in Sierra Leone who bravely speaks out against injustices to humanity.
