The Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority (EDSA) has launched a new program called EDSA Hour from 7 to 8 PM, airing on SLBC TV Channel 31 and Radio 99.9FM.

The initiative aims to keep citizens informed about the current power supply situation and ongoing reforms in the energy sector.

The program also provides a platform for citizens to voice their concerns and ask questions regarding the electricity situation. Over time, the initiative is expected to expand into a broader Energy Sector Hour, which will cover developments across the entire energy supply chain.

The program will feature senior staff from key institutions, including the Ministry of Energy (MoE), EDSA, Electricity Generation and Transmission Company (EGTC), and Sierra Leone Electricity and Water Regulatory Commission (SLEWRC).

While announcing the new program, Alhaji Dr. Kandeh Yumkella, chairman of both the Presidential Initiative on Climate Change Renewable Energy and Food Security (PI-CREF) and the Energy Governance Coordination Group (EGCG) said that the new leadership of MoE is committed to collective, as well as “individual professional” accountability.
