The Minister of Basic Education, David Moinina Sengeh has discussed the vision of Sierra Leone in transforming the educational sector with counterparts in Washington DC.

Making his statement, minister Sengeh was very certain of the transformational process backed up by his ”Public Education on Public Education’‘ campaign. He maintained that, as a nation, Sierra Leone can get zero learning poverty in record time with the right partners.

’I arrived to Washington D.C today to attend the Spring Meetings of the World Bank/IMF as part of the Sierra Leone delegation. To kick-start what will be a truly exciting week for Global education and for Sierra Leone Education in particular, I met with Jaime Saavedra (Global Director, Education Global Practice), Halil Dundar (Manager, Global Education Practice), Scherezad Latif (Lead Education Specialist) and Abdu Muwonge (Country Manager, Sierra Leone).

Together, we spoke about the commitment to expand Sierra Leone’s education sector financing and using Sierra Leone as a flagship country to deliver on foundational learning at scale. We also discussed Sierra Leone’s Zero Learning Poverty Strategy and our plan to do the biggest education transformation ever in the world. We will get to zero learning poverty quicker than ever before and at same time move towards universal literacy. We have all the foundations for this:

  3. Curriculum reform
