The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has welcomed Conservation International’s Executive Vice President, Field Programs, Daniela Raik, and her team to Sierra Leone to explore potential collaborations in environmental conservation.

Both organizations share a common goal of protecting biodiversity and implementing effective conservation strategies.

The EPA provided a comprehensive overview of Sierra Leone’s progress in achieving 23 National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) targets, developing a marine spatial plan, and identifying key thematic areas for environmental action.

Conservation International expressed interest in supporting Sierra Leone’s efforts to conserve the Upper Guinean Forest and West African mangroves, two critical ecosystems. The organization is also keen to assist in developing a policy framework for climate mitigation and carbon markets, securing public funding, and leveraging private investments for environmental initiatives.

By combining their expertise and resources, the EPA and Conservation International aim to create a lasting positive impact on Sierra Leone’s environment and its people.
