First Lady Fatima Bio joined the celebration of Tuma Adama Gento Jabbi’s election as the new President of the Bar Association.

A viral video circulating on social media captures the First Lady singing victory songs alongside supporters of Jabbi.

Jabbi secured a decisive victory with 506 votes, far outpacing her opponents Wara Serry Kamal, who received 23 votes, and Augustine S. Marrah, who garnered 15 votes. The election, conducted amidst significant anticipation, was praised by observers as free and fair.

Jabbi will take over from outgoing President Michaela Eddina Swallow Executive, leading the prestigious organization into its next chapter.

The election saw participation from 1,200 registered voters, with 572 casting their ballots. Of these, 28 votes were voided, a minor discrepancy that did not affect the overall result. The substantial margin of victory underscores the strong support for Jabbi’s candidacy within the legal community.

Mrs. Gento-Kamara brings extensive experience to her new role, having held various senior positions in government and the legal sector. Her proven track record in promoting gender equality and advancing the rights of women and girls positions her as a dynamic leader for the Bar Association.
