First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio, has shared her profound pride and personal reflections following the official commissioning of the Dr Julius Maada Bio International Conference Centre and the ECOWAS Logistics Depot in Lungi.

The unveiling of these two landmark projects comes just ahead of Sierra Leone hosting the prestigious 69th Ordinary Session of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, positioning the nation at the centre of West African leadership and development.

Reflecting on the commissioning ceremony, the First Lady described it as the embodiment of a bold national vision championed by her husband, His Excellency President Dr Julius Maada Bio.

As I watched this remarkable landmark unveiled, I saw more than an architectural masterpiece,” the First Lady noted. “I saw the fulfilment of a promise, the triumph of visionary leadership, and a lasting investment in our nation’s future.”

She emphasised that the multi-million-dollar facilities stand as powerful symbols of what purposeful governance can achieve when driven by courage, conviction, and an unwavering commitment to national development.

For the First Lady, the unveiling of these state-of-the-art facilities carries a deeply personal and generational significance. She highlighted that true leadership is ultimately measured by the enduring legacy left behind for generations yet unborn.

With the 69th Ordinary Session of ECOWAS on the horizon, these magnificent structures are set to serve their strategic purpose immediately.

The First Lady drew special attention to the strategic importance of the new ECOWAS Logistics Depot. Far more than just storage infrastructure, she described the depot as a vital hub where businesses, partnerships, and live goods will converge. Under the President’s leadership, this facility is poised to open Sierra Leone to unprecedented opportunities, firmly anchoring the nation in the ongoing efforts toward West African economic transformation.

“Today, we celebrate not only a world-class conference centre and a strategic logistics depot, but also the enduring power of vision, service, and the belief that with determined leadership, Africa can build institutions and infrastructure that stand shoulder to shoulder with the very best in the world.” She stated.

As Sierra Leone stands proudly ready to host its sub-regional peers, the First Lady concluded with an inspiring call to unity. She expressed her hope that these landmarks will inspire every Sierra Leonean to dream bigger, believe in the nation’s collective potential, and work hand in hand to build a legacy that future generations will inherit with immense pride.
