First Lady of Sierra Leone, Fatima Maada Bio, welcomed renowned Nigerian journalist and broadcaster Donu Kogbara to her office in Goderich this afternoon for a wide-ranging conversation.

The interview, conducted by Kogbara on behalf of The Africa Report magazine, covered a variety of topics.

Following their discussion, the First Lady personally thanked Kogbara for her years of work in the media industry, acknowledging the impact of her voice in shaping public discourse across the continent.

Donu Kogbara has built a solid career in both Nigeria and the UK. She writes a popular weekly column for Vanguard newspaper and has made regular appearances on radio and television. Over the years, she has worked with major UK media outlets including the BBC, Channel 4, Sunday Times, Daily Mail, and the Economist Intelligence Unit.

Beyond journalism, Kogbara also works as a consultant. She has helped government bodies, private sector organisations, and individuals communicate more clearly and reach wider audiences. Her focus has often been on bridging gaps between Nigerians and non-Nigerians, helping people understand each other better through dialogue.

Looking ahead, Kogbara is working on her next big move setting up an e-publishing company that will focus on fiction written for mature women, a space she believes deserves more attention and creativity.

The meeting in Goderich reflects the First Lady’s continued connection with media voices across Africa, and her ongoing interest in discussions that matter.
