First Lady of Sierra Leone, Dr. Fatima Maada Bio, arrived in Kenema District to a rousing welcome from enthusiastic supporters as she presided over the launch of the SLPP District Women’s Council Executive and participated in activities marking the Kenema Festival.

The event drew a large crowd of party supporters, women leaders, youth groups, and community members, highlighting the growing influence of women within the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) at the district level. The launch of the new executive is expected to strengthen grassroots mobilization, women’s leadership, and political participation across Kenema District.

Adding color and excitement to the occasion, the festival featured performances by some of Sierra Leone’s popular music stars, including Legacy Boi, Alieu Melody, Shaddy Baby, and other notable entertainers. Their performances energized the audience and underscored the blend of politics, culture, and entertainment that characterized the celebration.

During the ceremony, members of the SLPP District Women’s Council presented appreciation gifts to the First Lady as a symbol of gratitude for her continued support and advocacy for women’s empowerment. The gifts included assorted items and two goats, traditionally offered as a gesture of respect and appreciation within the community.
