The Freetown City Council (FCC) has issued a public statement clarifying the legal mandates for various services within the city.
This aims to improve public understanding and ensure residents receive the best possible support.
Drainage Construction and Road Maintenance: The Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA) is responsible for both drainage construction and road maintenance in Freetown.
Land Use Planning and Building Permits: The Ministry of Lands holds the authority for land-use planning and issuing building permits within the city.
Water Supply: Guma Valley Water Company remains the designated provider of water services for Freetown.
Sanitation: The Freetown City Council (FCC) remains responsible for sanitation services within the city.
The FCC emphasized their willingness to collaborate and support other relevant government agencies (MDAs) wherever possible. However, they stressed the importance of recognizing each entity’s mandated roles and responsibilities to ensure efficient service delivery.
