Sierra Leone’s First Lady and President of the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), Dr Fatima Maada Bio, is set to deliver the keynote address at the Global Power Women Forum 2026, scheduled to take place at the University of Cambridge from June 8 to 9.
The high-level forum, hosted in collaboration with Wolfson College, will bring together global leaders, policymakers, advocates, and changemakers committed to advancing women’s leadership and economic empowerment.
Held under the theme “Women-Powered Economies: Capital, Trade, and the Future of Economic Governance,” the forum will explore strategies to strengthen women’s participation in economic decision-making, expand access to finance, and promote inclusive and sustainable development. It will also highlight the growing role of women in shaping global economic systems and policy frameworks.
As keynote speaker, Dr Bio is expected to deliver a central address focusing on women’s empowerment, leadership, and the need to create practical pathways for women and girls to fully participate in economic and social development. Her presentation will also reflect her work within OAFLAD in advancing gender equality across Africa.
The forum will further serve as a platform for high-level dialogue on international cooperation, investment, trade, and governance reforms aimed at enhancing women’s influence in global economic affairs.
Dr Bio’s participation as keynote speaker underscores Sierra Leone’s growing visibility in global gender and development discourse, reinforcing national and continental efforts to promote women’s leadership and economic inclusion.
