Sierra Leone’s First Lady, Fatima Maada Bio, was greeted by thousands of supporters upon her return to Freetown, following a recent international trip where she received the prestigious title of “Africa’s Best First Lady 2024.”

The streets were filled with jubilant crowds, particularly women from various regions and backgrounds, who gathered to celebrate her recognition.

In a public address to the enthusiastic audience, Mrs. Bio expressed her appreciation for the overwhelming turnout, describing it as a powerful show of solidarity among Sierra Leonean women. “The support I received is a testament to the incredible spirit of Sierra Leonean women,” she said. “Your presence was not only uplifting but also a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we stand together.”

Mrs. Bio’s accolade acknowledges her work in women’s rights advocacy, education, and healthcare initiatives in Sierra Leone, areas in which she has been actively involved alongside her husband, President Julius Maada Bio. Thanking the president for his continued support, she highlighted his dedication to advancing women’s causes in Sierra Leone.
