High Court Judge, Hon. Justice Adrian Fisher, has ruled in favor of the Electoral Commission for Sierra Leone (ECSL) and dismissed the legal action brought by the main opposition party, All People’s Congress (APC).

The APC, along with their legal representatives, today failed to appear in court for the hearing.

The lawsuit, filed by the APC against the ECSL, alleged irregularities and misconduct in the electoral process. However, due to the absence of the plaintiff and their legal team, the court proceeded with the case in their absence.

Justice Fisher, after carefully examining the facts and evidence presented by the ECSL, determined that the allegations made by the APC were unsubstantiated. Consequently, the court ruled in favor of the ECSL, declaring the lawsuit null and void.

Furthermore, Justice Fisher ordered the APC to bear the financial burden of the legal proceedings by paying the costs incurred. The decision to impose costs on the opposition party serves as a deterrent against frivolous litigation and emphasizes the importance of adhering to proper legal procedures.

The All People’s Congress (APC) now faces the responsibility of covering the legal costs, which could have financial implications for the party. The outcome of this case serves as a reminder for all political parties to exercise due diligence before initiating legal actions and to honor their obligations within the judicial system.
