Government officials, petroleum sector regulators, security representatives and community stakeholders have joined NP (SL) Limited in commissioning the newly upgraded NP Kissy Bye Pass Fuel Station in the Kissy community, east of Freetown, as part of efforts to improve fuel service delivery and modernize the petroleum sector in Sierra Leone.

The commissioning ceremony marked the official reopening of the fully modernized fuel station, which is now operational and equipped to serve both vehicle owners and commercial motorbike riders more efficiently.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Chief Executive Officer of NP-SL, Mohamed S. Kanu, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to expanding access to quality fuel services across Sierra Leone and other countries where the company operates. He emphasized that NP-SL remains a proudly Sierra Leonean company that continues to invest in infrastructure development while empowering local professionals.

“Today is one of my happiest days at NP-SL. In my fifteen years with the Company, this is the first time I am witnessing the opening of NP station in Sierra Leone, having previously opened stations in Guinea, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, and The Gambia,” Dr. Kanu stated during his address.

He further explained that NP-SL maintains a strong and consistent brand identity across all countries where it operates, reflecting the company’s commitment to reliability, excellence and regional growth.

Dr. Kanu also used the occasion to highlight the company’s continued investment in innovation through the NP Card System, a digital solution introduced to improve convenience, security and transparency in fuel purchases nationwide.

According to him, the company remains committed to enhancing customer experience through modern systems that improve accessibility and efficiency within the petroleum sector.

Also speaking at the event, NP-SL Sales Manager, Manso Augustine Kamara, reiterated the company’s long-standing message that “Every Litre Counts,” noting that customer patronage contributes directly to national development and community transformation.

Addressing commercial bike and ‘Keh Keh’ riders, Mr. Kamara highlighted several social development projects supported through the company’s operations, including the construction of Sierra Leone’s first Burns Unit at Connaught Hospital, provision of boreholes for the Fire Force and Independent Secondary School Kissy, as well as squash facilities in schools and institutions across the country.

He assured customers of quality service delivery at the upgraded station and reaffirmed NP-SL’s commitment to continuously modernizing fuel purchasing systems for greater convenience and transparency.

Representing the petroleum regulatory body, Brima Baluwa Koroma praised NP-SL for what he described as its leadership role in Sierra Leone’s downstream petroleum industry.

“NP-SL is the biological child of Sierra Leone petroleum sector. The Company has expanded its stations in remote places such as Kakuna, Kabala District, and beyond where there were no stations,” Mr. Koroma stated.

He further commended the company for maintaining fuel supply during challenging periods, noting that NP-SL spends millions of dollars to ensure fuel availability across the country.

Reflecting on the transformation of the station, NP-SL Operations Manager, Vandi Bockarie, explained that the previous facility had limited space and could accommodate only two vehicles at a time. He said the station has now been expanded and digitized to handle more vehicles while improving customer service delivery.

Representatives of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces, the Sierra Leone Police and members of the Kissy community welcomed the upgraded fuel station and pledged their support toward making it one of the leading fuel stations in the area.
