In the ongoing murder trial of Abdul Kpaka, Princess Wilson, Manager of Virtues Funeral Home, took the stand as the fourth prosecution witness, describing the accused’s deep distress over the body of his deceased girlfriend, Sia Fatu Kamara.

The trial, overseen by Justice Alhaji Momoh Jah Stevens, involves charges of murder and perverting the course of justice.

Wilson testified that Kpaka was visibly emotional and crying bitterly when he arrived at the funeral parlor, where Sia’s body was prepared for preservation. In her testimony, she explained her role in inspecting the deceased’s body and reported finding several scratches and a cut lip on Sia. Wilson said she questioned Kpaka about his connection to the deceased, and he confirmed that Sia was his girlfriend.

During the proceedings, the defense, led by lawyer Emmanuel Teddy Koroma, objected to the prosecution’s submission of photos of the deceased, arguing that proper notice had not been given. However, the objection was overruled by the judge, allowing the photos to be admitted as evidence.

Despite defense counsel’s arguments for bail, citing Kpaka’s constitutional right to liberty and the assurance that he posed no flight risk, the judge denied the application. Kpaka remains in custody as the trial has been adjourned until October 25, 2024.

The indictment accuses Kpaka of murdering Sia Fatu Kamara on August 13, 2024, in Mambo, Goderich.
