The Government of Sierra Leone through the immigration office has announced plans to establish immigration offices in every regional headquarters town as part of the decentralization scheme.
Alusine Kanneh, the Chief Immigration Officer revealed that this is part of the reforms he is currently working on at the immigration department.
This new reform will create a way to have offices in Bo, Kenema, and Makeni for the people to have access to apply for passports as that will help them from the challenge of travelling a long way to the nation’s capital Freetown.
He maintained that the current post offices in the regional headquarters town will be reactivated as passport offices, adding that, they have engaged with the Sierra Leone Postal Services (SALPOST) for a working collaboration in helping the people in the country.
He said, to have a well-placed system that works to satisfy all Sierra Leoneans, they are working to get things done on the international stage, as there will soon be offices in Washington DC in the US and London for the processing of passports as that will also help Sierra Leoneans living in those places to get an easy access to their passports.
Good idea but what is the current amount of passport

It should be all part of the districts in the country,
What about the other district towns
God bless you chief immigration officer. Indeed it a great initiative and God bless you.
This is a very good idea and I hope with time all other districts will have offices as well. And if the SLRSA can also do the same thing for Licenses it will be a good one. It’s shouldn’t be Freetown all the time, let there be decentralization of most offices to give easy access to every citizens. May God help the immigration department to achieve this dream.
Thank you for this great initiative. But what about the North West region head quarter town port Loko ?
Good idea but we want you guys to think about kailahun district please because we are fer from kenema to get the passport is difficult for the traveling people so, please help us to get the office please
Portloko is a regional town for the North West region, why not have one opened there.
The initiative is well placed👍👍
Really appreciate the idea of introducing immigration offices in Bo, kenema and makeni inorder to avoid not only traveling to the capital but to avoid tension and this so called bribe to have passport and as well agents before reach out to the real workers
I am very happy to here this , even though my two District Moyamba and Pujehun was not chosen but it’s 100% better at least Bo is South, So all those from southern provence can go there.
All from Northern Provence will go to Makeni and those from East to Kenema.
Very fantastic, Please let’s appreciate this and look for what will come next,
