The Government of Sierra Leone has officially announced that all citizens intending to embark on the Hajj pilgrimage this year, 2025, are required to complete a medical screening and general orientation.

The initiative, which was announced through a public notice, aims to ensure that pilgrims are physically fit for their journey and are well-informed about health, safety protocols, and Hajj rituals.

The medical screening and orientation is scheduled to take place from Tuesday, 6th May, to Friday, 16th May, 2025, at the Presidential Hajj Taskforce Secretariat, located within the Bank of Sierra Leone Complex in Kingtom, Freetown.

Sheikh Dyphan A. Massaquoi, Head of Operations & Support Services for the Presidential Hajj Taskforce, emphasized the importance of the process. “The medical screening will involve an examination of the pilgrims’ overall health status, including necessary laboratory tests and an assessment of vaccination status,” he stated.

Intending pilgrims are reminded that any financial costs associated with laboratory tests will be their responsibility, as those expenses are not included in the Hajj fee already paid, assuring that all registered pilgrims will be contacted, when possible, via the phone numbers listed on their registration forms.

The daily schedule for screening and orientation is as follows:
9:00 AM -10:00 AM: Pilgrim Orientation
10:10 AM -3:30 PM: Medical Screening
3:40 PM -4:40 PM: Pilgrim Orientation

The coordinated effort by the Sierra Leone government is said to be a reflection of its commitment to ensuring a safe and well-prepared experience for all pilgrims participating in Hajj 2025.
