Reality TV Star, Hawa Hunt has publicly expressed her gratitude to Sierra Leone’s First Lady Fatima Bio for intervening in her case and securing her freedom.

Hunt, who was facing cybercrime charges for allegedly insulting the President and First Lady in an online video, acknowledged the seriousness of her actions and pledged to learn from her past mistakes.

In a statement, Hunt conveyed her heartfelt appreciation for the First Lady’s continuous support. “I fully acknowledge the gravity of my mistakes and am committed to learning from them,” Hunt wrote. “Your exemplary leadership and nurturing spirit inspire me deeply. You serve as a remarkable role model to me and to so many others.”

Hunt also referenced the First Lady’s well-known saying, “bad bush nor dae for troway bad Pekin,” praising her for embodying the true essence of a mother to the nation. She further expressed gratitude for the First Lady’s intervention during the holy month of Ramadan, recognizing her efforts and prayers.

“I sincerely pray that Allah accepts your fasting and sacrifices during this holy month,” Hunt added.

Hawa Hunt, known for her online presence with over 100,000 followers, was arrested live on the reality TV show “House of Stars” on December 22nd for comments she made on social media in May 2023 criticizing President Julius Maada Bio and First Lady Fatima Maada Bio.

She was charged with “transmitting insulting messages via a computer system” under Sierra Leone’s Cybersecurity and Crime Act 2021. Prosecutors allege her video incited public disorder and defamed the president and his wife.

On Saturday, March 1, 2025 First Lady, Fatima Bio released a video calling for the release of the reality TV star while denying any involvement in her arrest and prosecution.
