The Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion (ICPNC) has called for the full implementation of recent peace agreements, stressing that lasting peace and national unity can only be achieved when commitments made by political leaders and stakeholders are translated into meaningful action.

Speaking on behalf of the Commission, the Executive Secretary, Hawa Sally Samai, urged political actors, institutions and other key stakeholders to honour the provisions of the agreements reached through dialogue, noting that implementation is essential to sustaining peace and fostering national cohesion.

She emphasised that signing agreements alone is not enough to address the country’s political and social challenges, adding that consistent implementation will help build public confidence, strengthen democratic governance and prevent the recurrence of conflicts.

Samai reaffirmed the ICPNC’s commitment to promoting dialogue, reconciliation and peaceful coexistence across Sierra Leone. She encouraged all parties to work collaboratively in the interest of national development, emphasising that peace is a shared responsibility that requires continued cooperation and accountability.

The Commission maintained that the effective implementation of peace agreements remains a critical step toward consolidating national unity, preserving stability and creating an environment conducive to sustainable development.
