The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has taken a major step towards improving operational efficiency with the deployment of Hytera PD785G portable radios to the Southern Region.
This pilot initiative, spearheaded by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) William Fayia Sellu and supported by the Government of Sierra Leone, underscores the force’s commitment to modernizing communication systems for better service delivery.
The equipment was officially delivered by Sergeant 9572 Bangura A, the Logistics Officer of the Communication Department at Police Headquarters, Freetown.

Receiving the items on behalf of the region, the Regional Police Commander South, Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Brima Kanneh, expressed profound appreciation to IGP Sellu for such a laudable move. He encouraged commanders who have been fortunate to receive the radios to utilize them strictly for their intended purposes, ensuring maximum impact on Police Operations.
AIG Kanneh further described the gesture as a transformative step in policing, stating, “This initiative by IGP Sellu demonstrates his visionary leadership and commitment to ensuring that our officers are well-equipped to serve the public effectively. We are grateful, and we look forward to more support in the future.”
