Sierra Leone’s Information Minister, Chernor Bah, has reaffirmed President Julius Maada Bio’s commitment to adhering to the constitutional term limits, emphasizing that the president will serve only his two mandated terms with no plans for a third term or extension.
In a recent statement, Bah highlighted President Bio’s consistent stance during constitutional review discussions, reiterating that the president is committed to completing his second term and peacefully handing over power. The minister expressed his gratitude to President Bio for setting a commendable example and urged the public to have trust and faith in the governance system.
At a weekly press conference organized by the Information Ministry, Deputy Minister of Justice Alpha Sesay also addressed concerns regarding the ongoing constitutional review process. Sesay clarified that the current efforts are a continuation of the ‘Justice Cowan Constitutional Review Committee’ initiated by former President Ernest Bai Koroma, and not a new process.
Both officials’ statements aim to reassure the public of the government’s dedication to democratic principles and the peaceful transfer of power in Sierra Leone.
