The Providence International School Ltd has emerged Champions of the CGSL National Debating Championship for Girls 2024.
International School has now won the debate against Providence International High School for the second time in a row.
Chozen Generation Sierra Leone, in collaboration with MariGold Initiative, earlier kicked off the third edition of the annual National debating championship for girls in Freetown. 24 Girls Schools battle it out this time.
The format of this year’s debate is one of the British parliamentary styles and expected schools to Participate are the St Joseph Snr, School, The Methodist Girls High school, The Anne-Walsh Sec School, The International Secondary School amongst other top contenders.
Considering the format, training was conducted for all participating schools in Freetown to familiarize themselves with the demands of the Championship.
Madam Millicent Kargbo, Deputy Communications Director, Human Rights Commission launched the debate at the Africell American Corner on Wednesday 17th April 2024. This year’s theme is “Amplify Her Voice: Young Girls in the Arena of Idea”.
The debates commenced earlier in May 2024 and will span for one month. Attractive Prizes will be awarded to debaters and winner of the Championship.
These debates showcased the intellectual prowess and social awareness of the participating schools, highlighting their commitment to fostering progress, equality, and empowerment within Sierra Leonean society.
