Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Minister, Timothy Musa Kabba, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Sierra Leonean diplomat Mohamed S. Conteh, describing his passing as a significant loss to the country’s diplomatic service.

In a condolence message issued following Conteh’s death on Friday, July 3, 2026, in the United Arab Emirates, Kabba paid tribute to the late diplomat’s dedication, professionalism, and personal character, while extending heartfelt condolences to his bereaved family.

The Foreign Minister reflected on his personal relationship with Conteh, recalling the warm interactions they shared during his visits to the ministry. Kabba fondly remembered teasing the late diplomat about his distinctive footwear whenever he visited his office with legal documents, describing those moments as cherished memories that would remain with him.

Kabba also noted that he had appointed Conteh to serve as Minister and Counselor and Head of Chancery at Sierra Leone’s Embassy in the United Arab Emirates approximately five months ago. He recalled that, shortly before departing for his assignment, Conteh visited him and spoke candidly about his life journey and upbringing in the Kissi region of Kailahun District.

Describing Conteh as a devoted Muslim, Kabba prayed for Allah’s mercy upon his soul and asked that he be granted Jannatul Firdaus, the highest rank in Paradise according to Islamic belief. He also prayed for strength and comfort for the late diplomat’s family as they mourn their loss.

Conteh’s death has drawn condolences from within Sierra Leone’s diplomatic community, with tributes highlighting his commitment to public service and his contribution to advancing the country’s foreign relations during his tenure.
