Chairman of Sierra Leone’s National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Andrew Jaiah Kaikai has been spotted at a birthday party alongside Europe’s most wanted drug lord, Dutch kingpin Jos Leijdekkers.

Kaikai, formerly Chief Immigration Officer and now Sierra Leone’s top anti-drug enforcer, is believed to be a close ally of Leijdekkers, who remains wanted by Europol.

Parliament had previously questioned Kaikai over luxury vehicles he claimed were gifts from a friend. Now, a newly surfaced video has reignited discussions, raising concerns about his connections. Despite corruption allegations, Kaikai walked free under the defunct Anti-Corruption Commission, led by the widely criticized Francis Ben Kaifala.

Leijdekkers, already sentenced to 47 years in Europe, appears well-protected in Sierra Leone, even securing his status by allegedly marrying President Bio’s daughter.

With Bio’s officials deeply entangled in the cocaine trade, the question remains: If the government were serious about cracking down, why hasn’t Kaikai arrested Leijdekkers? After all, how can he arrest the president’s own in-law?
