Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara recently shared his vision for the future leading up to the 2028 general elections.
As the leader of the All People’s Congress (APC) Party during the 2023 elections, Dr. Kamara emphasized that his focus will be on the country’s development rather than his personal political ambitions.
During a recent online media interview, Dr. Kamara clarified that he does not intend to run in the 2028 general elections. He did not confirm whether he will compete for the flagbearer position in 2026.
Dr. Kamara expressed his satisfaction as a politician and civil servant, having served under various governments, leaders, and public institutions. He also paid tribute to former President Dr. Ahmed Tejan Kabbah for his reforms in public institutions and acknowledged the collaborative efforts that led to the establishment of key organizations such as the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), NASSIT, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA), and the Foreign Affairs services.
Reflecting on his presidential candidacy chosen by former President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, Dr. Kamara considered it a divine intervention that shaped his life and career. He acknowledged the challenges ahead and entrusted them to a higher power.
Dr. Kamara urged members of the APC to focus on concluding the 2023 elections before looking ahead to 2028. He emphasized the importance of achieving electoral justice together, stating that the opposition party should engage in other activities while remaining committed to resolving the unresolved issues from 2023.
In conclusion, Dr. Kamara emphasized the need for unity and perseverance in the pursuit of electoral justice, indicating that his plans for the 2028 elections are contingent on the successful resolution of past electoral challenges.
The APC’s 2023 presidential candidate emphasized the critical importance of completing the 2023 elections successfully, stating that the future significance of 2028 hinges on the party’s performance in 2023. He warned that without addressing the significant flaws in the 2023 elections, democracy in 2028 would be at risk.
Furthermore, he reassured party members of his continued relevance within the party, highlighting the upcoming collaborative activities, particularly the implementation of the Tripartite-Committee report.
Dr. Samura Kamara underscored the ongoing political battle, emphasizing the need for a thorough examination of the 2023 elections to ensure a successful outcome.
