Sierra Leone’s Entertainment Ambassador, Kao Denero, has issued a statement addressing recent claims by Prezo Koroma regarding LAJ’s involvement in the promotional material for Kao Denero’s “Official Freetown Heroes Album Release.”
Koroma, a close associate of LAJ, alleged that the use of LAJ’s image on event flyers was unauthorized and suggested that LAJ had not been invited to the event.
In a response released today, Kao Denero clarified that LAJ was, in fact, notified about the use of his image on promotional materials and gave his consent for its use. While no formal invitation letter was sent, Denero noted that LAJ received a direct message inviting him to attend or participate, an approach he described as “informal but entirely in line with industry norms.”
“Kao Denero values unity and professionalism within the entertainment industry and would not promote an event involving a fellow entertainer without their consent,” the statement emphasized, rejecting Koroma’s claims as “simply untrue.” Denero also highlighted his commitment to collaboration and respect, underscoring his belief in fostering a positive environment for Sierra Leone’s entertainers.
The recent remarks by Koroma and subsequent response from Denero reflect an ongoing tension within the music industry, with both parties calling for mutual respect. Denero’s statement pointed out that LAJ had previously invited him informally to a past event, which he accepted, even collaborating on a video project afterward. Denero’s team expressed disappointment that such respect was not reciprocated, noting that LAJ’s name was excluded from the event schedule only due to a lack of concern shown by his team regarding his participation.
Kao Denero’s statement concluded with a call for industry unity, urging all entertainers to embrace professionalism, respect, and a collaborative spirit. Fans and colleagues are encouraged to support a healthy music industry, free from misinformation and unnecessary discord.
