Leone Rock Metal Group (LRMG) proudly marked a milestone in community development as the company officially handed over a well-furnished community centre to the residents of Romende Chiefdom. This significant event, held on August 31, 2024, is part of LRMG’s ongoing commitment to support the Government of Sierra Leone in enhancing infrastructure and promoting community development.
It was testified by several stakeholders that over half a decade the community people and their respective stakeholders had never converged in a single gathering, but as a result of this development LRMG has brought to their community, this act of division was put to an end as they were all present to embrace the good work the company has brought to them as a community.
Regent Chief Pa. Karimu Kabba opened the ceremony with heartfelt gratitude, acknowledging the significance of this community centre. “This is the first time in decades that we are having such a facility,” he stated. He expressed his appreciation for LRMG’s efforts, highlighting how the absence of a community centre had left locals vulnerable to theft and forced them to hold important gatherings in unsafe environments. With the creation of this new facility, all council meetings, weddings, and entertainment shows will now have a secure and welcoming home.
Honourable Alusine Bash Kamara, a Member of Parliament, also conveyed his gratitude to LRMG for their dedication to community enhancement. He emphasized that the construction of the centre is a significant achievement within his constituency. In his remarks, he encouraged community members to protect the railways, ensuring safety and minimizing accidents. He assured LRMG of the community’s support in maintaining the integrity of the railway system.
Charlie Chen, General Manager of Kingho Railway and Port, a subsidiary company of LRMG delivered the keynote address, reinforcing LRMG’s mission to give back to the people of Sierra Leone. “Making dreams come true and putting smiles on people’s faces is one of our greatest strengths,” he remarked. “We are committed to advancing infrastructural development and ensuring the welfare of the communities in which we operate.” He reiterated the importance of community collaboration in safeguarding the railways and assured Sierra Leone of LRMG’s commitment to continued support for developmental initiatives across the country.
