Minister of Local Government and Community Affairs, Tamba Lamina, has launched a monitoring exercise in Kono District as part of the Building Accountability Systems through Empowered Communities (BASE) project.

The initiative focuses on enhancing transparency, revenue generation, and cooperation between Councils and Chiefdom Administrations, while tracking the progress of donor-funded projects.

During meetings with Kono District Council leaders and devolved sector heads, Minister Lamina stressed the importance of accountability, female representation in governance, and combating violence against women and child marriage.

He also engaged the public through a radio show, encouraging active participation in governance and accountability efforts.

This visit is part of a broader government strategy to strengthen local governance and ensure resources are used effectively for community development.
