The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), through its National School Feeding Programme Secretariat, has engaged key stakeholders in Kailahun District as part of efforts to strengthen the implementation of the Homegrown School Feeding Programme.

The engagement brought together School Management Committees, traditional leaders, local council authorities, representatives of community-based organisations, and other education stakeholders to enhance collaboration and improve the delivery of school feeding services across the district.

Speaking during the engagement, the Ministry’s Director of Nutrition, Sengbe Roger Koker, reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to ensuring that every beneficiary school receives quality school meals under the programme.

He emphasised that transparency, accountability, and shared responsibility are essential to achieving the objectives of the initiative and called on stakeholders to play an active role in safeguarding its successful implementation.

Koker also encouraged participants to closely monitor food distribution within their communities and promptly report any challenges or irregularities to the designated school feeding monitors to ensure timely intervention.

Participants welcomed the initiative and pledged their continued support for the effective implementation of the programme throughout Kailahun District.

The Ministry said sustained collaboration, regular communication, and increased community participation remain critical to the success of the Homegrown School Feeding Programme, which aims to improve school attendance, enrolment, learner retention, nutrition, and academic performance among pupils across the country.
