In his ‘’Public Education on Public Education’’ drive to ensure a Radical inclusion, the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education – David Monina Sengeh revealed that, President Bio’s government has provided uniforms and shoes for the poorest communities in 6 Chiefdoms and in all 17 special needs schools as marked.
He said the significant step in the provision of quality school education for all has kicked off in Sierra Leone which involves the provision of 14,669 school uniforms and 6,324 pairs of shoes to the most-needy beneficiaries to all 17 Special Needs Institutions including 1,206 Pupils in 70 schools from the following Chiefdoms: Biriwa-Bombali, Galliness-Pujehun, Langrama-Kenema, Malal-Tonkolili, Morifindugu-Falaba, and Wonde-Bo.
‘’Beneficiary schools were identified based on the World Bank and Statistics Sierra Leone poverty index and the MBSSE Annual School Census. In addition, all 17 special needs institutions received laptops, braille embossers, crutches, wheelchairs, voice recorders, Picture Exchange Communication System- PECS training manuals, etc.’’. He mentioned.
He further stated that the said intervention is at the core of the government’s program of universal access and radical inclusion and it focuses on girls and parent learners, the poor, the rural, and those with special needs.
