As the Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset celebrates its tenth anniversary, Millicent Cole, a Senior Bank Executive from Rokel Commercial Bank, has been inducted as President for the 2024-2025 Rotary year.

The glamorous event, held at the Freetown City Council Auditorium on Saturday, July 6th, 2024, attracted numerous Rotarians, distinguished personalities from the corporate world, the public sector, sponsors, and well-wishers.

Mrs. Cole was inducted alongside other officers to form an executive team she will lead from July 1st, 2024, to June 30th, 2025. A distinguished member of the club for nine years, Millicent Cole has served Rotary in various capacities at both local and international levels. She has held roles such as Sergeant at Arms, Club Treasurer, and District Treasurer for District 9101, overseeing operations in Sierra Leone, Liberia, The Gambia, Burkina Faso, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Mali, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, and Senegal.

In her inaugural address as president of the humanitarian organization, Madam Cole outlined her priorities for the year, focusing on sanitation—providing wash facilities and promoting health, empowering women and girls, and supporting the less privileged. She emphasized plans for collaboration with the Freetown City Council and other relevant organizations to implement these interventions effectively.

The Rotary Club of Freetown-Sunset has distinguished itself over the years as a prominent charity, championing initiatives such as school renovations, borehole constructions, solar panel installations at Ola During Children’s Hospital, tree planting with the City Council, and various youth-led activities. Millicent Cole’s induction as President underscores the organization’s ability to attract individuals from diverse backgrounds whose talents contribute to serving humanity.

The theme for this Rotary year is “The Magic of Rotary,” highlighting the organization’s enduring spirit in transforming and positively impacting communities
