After representing Sierra Leone at COP26, Minister of Basic and Secondary School Education, Moinina David Sengeh, has decided to implement what he learnt at the COP26 in Sierra Leone.
Minister Sengeh said that Climate Education should be at the Heart of Education Systems and Homes and that Communities are as important in the Education of Children.
He added that Climate Education must be science and evidence Focused; requires teacher training and must cut through the curriculum at all levels.
The Minister Assures his people that the Education Sector Plan in Sierra Leone will include Climate Education.
He affirmed that this will be the Core Curriculum Materials and Stand-alone subject and that Climate Education Indicators will be measured in the Annual School Census.
“If we can’t measure it, we won’t know how we are doing” he said.
