The Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning has informed the general public that they have successfully completed the preparation process for the allocation of plots to the 200 Sierra Leoneans at Allen Town Community.
The Ministry made this disclosure on a press release issued on Tuesday 15 March 2022.
According to the Ministry of Lands, the beneficiaries are those won the first land raffle draw conducted by the Ministry in December 2021.
The Ministry noted that the names of all winners has been gazetted as land owners on government lease at Upper Allen Town (previously known as South Africa) in Eastern Freetown, adding that the survey plan and offer letters have been signed and the plots are ready for allocation.
“In that regard, all the 200 winners of the aforesaid plot of land (Two Town Lot each) are kindly requested to converge at the Land Layout Site at Upper Allen Town (South Africa) on Thursday March 17, 2022, at 3 PM for the handing over ceremony,” the Ministry stated.
At the site, the new land owners will be shown their plots of land, in addition to the site plans and offer letters presented to them.
It could be recalled that for the first time in the history of Sierra Leone, the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Country Planning in December 2021 undertook an unprecedented land raffle draw to ensure fair and transparent allocation of government land to the general public. Over 7000 citizens applied for the plots advertised at Upper Allen Town in Freetown.
