The Ministry of Public Administration and Political Affairs has been entrusted to reform the public and civil service.
With this new mandate, the ministry can oversee the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) and the Public Service Commission (PSC), and others.
The Ministry of Political and Public Affairs is a Government institution whose mandate is to liaise between the public and the government; serving as a conduit through which government policies and project implementations are reached to the general public and directing public concerns to the government relating to policy implementations and at the same time bringing to the notice of government anything deemed as a threat to the tranquility, stability, and security of the state politically, socio-economically, etc.
It is charged with the responsibility to engage in conflict resolutions among community people, organizations/institutions; an idea put forward as part of the recommendations brought up by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) Report launched by the late President Dr Ahmed Tejan Kabba after the 11-year brutal war.
The Ministry is also charged with the responsibility to propagate the government’s policies, enabling the general public to have their say on any policy implementation and relaying those feedback to the government for any necessary modifications or consideration before full implementation takes its roots.
HRMO should directly fall under the Ministry of Employment, Labor and Social Security, I suggest.
