The National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT) has commissioned a new fleet of 11 vehicles and nine motorbikes at its headquarters, a move aimed at extending the Trust’s reach and improving service delivery for pensioners across Sierra Leone.

The procurement is designed to enhance NASSIT’s operational efficiency, particularly in its ability to serve contributors living in remote communities.

During the commissioning ceremony, NASSIT’s Director General framed the acquisition as a strategic investment rather than a simple inventory expansion. He also issued a firm directive regarding the stewardship of the new fleet, calling on the public to help monitor the assets.

“These vehicles are your money. It behooves all of us to ensure they are used for the right purpose,” the Director General stated. “Don’t hesitate to report any misuse—you’re assured of appropriate action.”

Deputy Director General of Administration, Mohammed Gondoe, noted that reliable transportation is a critical component in achieving NASSIT’s broader strategic plan and annual targets.

Gondoe described the handover as a substantial investment in the Trust’s capacity. “The vehicles are not merely tools; they are vital assets that will empower staff, enhance their reach, and ensure operations are executed with greater speed, safety, and reliability,” he said.

Accepting the fleet, Deputy Director General for Operations, Edwin Mohamed Kamara, pledged that the vehicles and motorbikes will be strategically deployed across the country and maintained with strict care to maximize their lifespan and impact.

With this latest investment, NASSIT aims to significantly reduce administrative response times and reinforce its mandate to provide reliable social security services nationwide.
