Lesser people died and lesser babies were born in the year 2022 as compared to 2021, according to the National Civil Registration Authority Report released yesterday, the 1st January, 2023.

The number of reported and registered birth for the year 2022, according to the report, are 190,666 and 170,712 respectively.

From the 190,666 reported births, 50.4% were female and 49.6% were male and from the 170,712 registered births were 49.4 % males and 50.6% females.

In 2021 registered cases of birth and death were 181,772 and 19,111 respectively. When compared to 2022 data, there is decrease of 6.1% of live birth registered and 21% decrease in death registered.

In the same report, 821 marriages were registered in 2021 as compared to 864 in 2022. There were also 67% Increase in divorce in 2022 as compared to 2021.
