The European Union’s newly appointed Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Jacek Jankowski, has arrived in Freetown, marking the beginning of his tenure aimed at enhancing the partnership between the EU and Sierra Leone.
Ambassador Jankowski touched down at Freetown International Airport, where he expressed his enthusiasm for his new role and his commitment to deepening the relationship between the two entities.
“Honoured to arrive in Sierra Leone and excited to continue strengthening the cooperation between the EU and Sierra Leone,” Ambassador Jankowski stated shortly after his arrival.
He extended his heartfelt thanks to his predecessor, Ambassador Müller, for the invaluable support provided during the transition, emphasizing the continuity and progress that lies ahead.

In a gesture that highlighted his eagerness to connect with the local community, Ambassador Jankowski addressed the people of Sierra Leone in Krio, saying, “Mi Salone fambul, a gladi fɔ kam wok wit una ɔl.” This message, which translates to “My Sierra Leone family, I am happy to come work with all of you,” was well-received, showcasing his intention to engage closely with Sierra Leoneans throughout his tenure
