The National Tourist Board (NTB) and the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Affairs (MoTCA) have announced strict enforcement of noise pollution regulations along Lumley Beach, mandating that all music at entertainment venues be completely switched off by 2:00 a.m..
According to a press release dated June 4, 2026, signed by NTB General Manager Fatmata Mida Carew, the directive targets beach bar operators, nightclubs, event organizers, and similar facilities.
The board reminded operators that the amended Public Order Act 2020 strictly prohibits the playing of loud, disruptive music or noisy instruments in communities after 10:00 p.m.
Under the enforced Beach Policy Guidelines, beachfront facilities must now reduce their music to a minimum level by 12:00 a.m. and turn it off entirely by 2:00 a.m..
The NTB warned that the Sierra Leone Police will help enforce the measure, and any failure to comply will result in the immediate closure of the offending facility.
The board stated that adherence to these regulatory requirements is necessary for the “integrity and sustainability of our tourism sector”.
