The National Public Procurement Authority (NPPA), in collaboration with the Sierra Leone Roads Authority (SLRA), has conducted a joint monitoring exercise of ongoing government feeder road construction projects in the western part of Freetown.

The monitoring team was led by NPPA’s Director of Engineering, Ing. Sheku Leeid Sheriff, and comprised technical personnel from both institutions.

During the exercise, the team inspected five road construction sites located at Murray Town, Sugar Land, Wadlobe, Bockarie Drive in Goderich, and Guana Avenue. The projects are being executed by SECON Construction Company under the Government of Sierra Leone’s feeder roads development initiative.

The monitoring team assessed the overall progress of the works, the quality of construction materials being used, compliance with approved engineering specifications, and adherence to project timelines. They also engaged project engineers and site supervisors on challenges encountered during implementation and measures being taken to ensure timely completion of the works.

Speaking during the visit, Ing. Sheku Leeid Sheriff underscored the importance of continuous project monitoring in promoting accountability, transparency, and efficiency in the use of public resources. He noted that such collaborative engagements help stakeholders identify implementation gaps early and recommend corrective actions where necessary.

The exercise reaffirmed the commitment of both NPPA and SLRA to ensuring that road infrastructure projects deliver intended socio-economic benefits and improve transportation networks within the Western Area.
