Salford City midfielder Kallum Cesay has expressed his delight after making his return to the Sierra Leone national team in the Leone Stars’ 1-0 victory over Liberia in an international friendly match at the Southern Arena in Bo.

Cesay, who had been absent from the national team since 2022, featured for Sierra Leone for the first time in nearly four years. The midfielder announced himself on the international stage in March 2022 when he made his debut against the Republic of the Congo, scoring twice in a 2-1 victory.

Speaking after the win over Liberia, Cesay said he was pleased to be back in the national setup.

“It feels good to be back,” he said. “I have never been here (in Bo) before, but I’m adapting.”

The playmaker also praised the team’s performance, noting that the players are continuing to work together to improve under the new technical leadership.

“I think the team performed well, and we are working together to improve even more,” he added.

Cesay also welcomed the appointment of new Leone Stars head coach Didier Gomes da Rosa, describing the decision as a positive step for Sierra Leone football.

“It’s a great appointment,” he said.

The 23-year-old joined Salford City ahead of the 2025/26 season and has enjoyed an impressive campaign in England, making 33 appearances in all competitions while scoring six goals and providing four assists for the League Two side.
